Death Registrations
Death Registrations are conducted in 2 stages, firstly by telephone to gather information and then in person to sign paperwork at your local registration office. Please see below for guidance.
The Registrar will still need to see the Medical Certificate issued by the doctor/GP to allow the Registration to take place.
If you need to register a death, please read and follow the below to enable the Registrar to register:
- The Medical Certificate can be retained by the GP/Doctor.
- You will receive an email once the Medical Certificate has been checked by the Registrar with a link to book your appointment to register.
- When you speak with the GP/Doctor ask them if they can scan the Medical Certificate to the Registrars using the document Upload Option on this site, along with your name and contact number.
- If the Coroner has been involved and you are not in possession of a Medical Certificate from the doctor/GP, please call 0300 111 8000 and we will arrange to call you back to Register the Death.
- Once we have the medical paperwork, we will contact you via text and/or email with details on how to arrange an appointment.
- Please do not call unless you have received a message from us, or have been informed by the Coroners office that paperwork has been sent to us.
